Hallandale, Florida, in Broward county, is 2 miles S of Hollywood, Florida (center to center) and 14 miles N of Miami, Florida. Part of the surrounding Fort Lauderdale metro area, Hallandale is home to some 34,282 residents.

Hallandale History

Hallandale was originally used as a hunting ground by the Seminole Indians, and had no permanent settlements untill the end of the 19th century. In the 1900s, settlements gradually began to develop and Hallandale became a farming community. It was incorporated for the first time on May 14, 1927, and then again reincorporated as a city in 1947. The city's name was officially changed to Hallandale Beach in August 1999.

Things To Do In Hallandale

Hallandale boasts of two very beautiful and pristine lakes, the Villa Lake and the Golden Isles Lake. There are a number of quaint little churches all around the city where religious-minded people can spend some quiet, peaceful time. The city offers a lot of interesting entertainment possibilities with its numerous amusement parks like the North Park, the three Islands Park, the Dixie Park and others. These are ideal spots for picnics with family and friends. Enthusiastic shoppers can also take advantage of the large shopping plazas, the Diplomat Mall and the Hallandale Shopping Center.
