Oakland Park History

Oakland Park was incorporated as the City of Floranada in 1925, four years after it came to be known as the City of Oakland Park. The city was named because of the massive oaks that lined the Middle River. It has become a prosperous community, and is home to a diverse mix of people. The Florida East Coast Railway, running parallel to the Dixie Highway, bisects the city of Oakland Park. Oakland Park shares its border with the city of Wilton Manors, and boasts of a newly built commuter rail station on the FEC rail line.

The Annual Oakland Park Oktoberfest Celebration is another major attraction. There are a number of churches and shopping centers that one can visit.
